Winter Wonderland Styled Shoot

Hi Everyone! I know I promised my next blog post would be about my Bachelorette Party to the Tampa Bay area but I’m going to postpone that one until next week. BECAUSE … images from the styled shoot I did back in March are in! I am SO excited about these and just have to share with all of you! I collaborated with an amazing team of local vendors (list of everyone on the team is at the bottom!) to bring this vision to life.

Before sharing the images, I want to give you all a quick back story as to how this shoot came together. As some of you know, I started Alyssa Jean Signature Events in January 2018. I was relatively new to Connecticut and new to owning my own business so I felt it was super important in the first couple of months to meet as many local vendors as possible to get my name out there and build a network of people I want to work with. Bluebird Farm in Willington, CT was one of the first venues I had the opportunity to visit. They were also new to hosting weddings so I asked if they would be interested in having a styled shoot on their property. They graciously agreed.

The next step was finding a photographer to work on the shoot. I had a meeting set-up with Alicia Ann Daw as I had worked with her when I was a venue coordinator at the Wentworth by the Sea Hotel and loved her work. We met for coffee one afternoon at Perk on Main in Middletown (literally obsessed with their Vanilla Chai Lattes) and the topic of styled shoots came up. I told her about Bluebird Farm and she was interested in working together. We both went home that afternoon and immediately started creating a Mood Board on Pinterest for the shoot. I originally thought of doing a spring shoot to showcase the wild flowers and greenery on the farm but Alicia loved the idea of doing a snowy, winter shoot. I hadn’t even thought of this before but fell in love with the idea and so, our theme of “Hoping for Spring” was born.

Once we had the vision board created, the next piece was to find additional vendors to bring on board. Between Alicia’s established relationships with local vendors and my initial networking, we had a full team together fairly quickly. Now we just needed snow! We actually had to postpone the shoot from our original date as February didn’t give us much to work with. We patiently waited and tracked the weather and finally saw a storm coming our way the first week of March. I had 48 hours to notify the team and pull all the final details together.

Alicia and I were the first on-site and we got started right away. She went around and scouted out the best areas for photos and I got to work on setting the tablescape and decor. Our models arrived a couple of hours later and the shoot was underway! The weather was exactly what we were hoping for. The fresh coat of white snow set the scene for the shoot. Take a look at some of the stunning images from the day that tell the story of our vision “Hoping for Spring.” I hope you all enjoy them and get some inspiration for your winter wedding!
